[Gmcnet] battery water level..

Good Choice.   

If the plates are covered, the battery is in no danger of damage.

There is a neck inside the fill cap opening with one or two slots cut in (I don't remember which just now).   The design liquid level is a the bottom of that neck.  You can see when the electolyte touches that.  It is pretty easy to see if you look in there.  It is about 1-1/4" down.  If you over fill a cold battery by 1/4", it won't matter.
