The hinge is just a plain door hinge welded into place and bolted to the tray. It does nothing to support the tray except when loading the motorcycle.

Yes, the two receiver bolts are threaded into the center tube. I could not figure a way to reinforce the areas of the tube on the inside, so I just threaded the tube. I forget how thick the center tube is. I used the heaviest piece of scrap 2" OD tube that I could find at the time. I also put three different sets of holes in the tube so I could mount the carrier closer or farther away from the rear of the vehicle hauling it. It can set it in closer when transporting my scooter than when I have my motorcycle on it.

Note: When loading the motorcycle, I just drive it up the tray until I reach the end. If you want to reduce the up angle of the tray, simply reduce the air pressure in your GMC air bags to lower the coach slightly. I have never found that to be necessary but we did reduce the pressure on the bags one time when we first made it just to see the difference.

One other note is the bike center of gravity needs to be slightly left of center to facilitate loading. This is determined by where you locate the front tire holder. I am probably 10 pounds heavier on the left than the right.
