Do not give up.  We have done this before.  I transported a bunch of stuff back here from California this way in May.  

One of the things I brought back is a Manny rebuilt trans and torque converter.  It is in storage here near Chicago double wrapped in air tight plastic waiting for the next person in the area that needs a transmission in a hurry. 

We also brought wheels, that ended up in Tennessee, a grill, bogie pins, and a bunch of smaller stuff.  

Al,  The earlier opportunity I mentioned did not pan out.
