What exactly did the PO say about the breaker? Reason I ask is we also got a '78 Royale in 12/06 and the PO didn't tell us squat when we got it. Ours does have a (automatic?) transfer switch bolted vertically to the box that covers the Onan, under the driver's rear dinette cushion.
