[Gmcnet] Leaking CV joint

First - welcome to the group.

Are you actually in Detroit proper?  

I know there are more GMC, but us three are here a lot. 
I'm kind of new to GMC (not quite 2 years).  

I just had my half shafts down to replace the outer boots and looked over the inner carefully.  

There are actually three things holding grease in.  
There is a seal on the back cover that can only be seen when the shaft is separated from the drive flange. 
Here things are unclear to me.... There is a flexible boot that is clamped to the shaft and that is bonded (I believe) to the steel retainer that is pressed onto the joint body and that is also seal ed with an O ring.  

I could not get either drive axle out without removing the knuckle, but if it can be done, someone will tell us.
